Holger Biermann (born 1973 in Bremen) focuses his gaze on people in urban spaces. Influenced by American street photography, he has been exploring the streets of European metropolises for more than two decades. His long-term photographic studies arise from observing public space and its social dynamics. In 2001, Biermann came to New York City on a grant and witnessed the events of September 11th. While the city was in a state of emergency, he documented life on the streets of New York. Since then, his analog camera has been his constant companion. Holger Biermann has lived and worked as a photographer in Berlin since 2003.
